Team Building Retreats

The term "team building" has become a buzzword in recent years, and has many connotations. In terms of corporate development, team-building exercises are important not for the immediate experience of the activities performed by the team, but also for the group skills, communication and bonding that result. The activity—be it an obstacle course or a classroom experience—is merely the means to the end: a high-impact learning experience.
We at Mark Calthers Consulting believe Team-building programmes provide realistic experiences that empower individuals to contribute to common goals. The success of most organisations depends on the ability of individuals to build effective teams

Some Interactive Games

Beach Volleyball

The two teams pick six members to play three games on the beach/court. Each game will be played up to eleven points or the maximum time limit of fifteen minutes. Winning team gets 10 points.

Trust Walk
One person must lead his/her blindfolded colleague through an obstacle course - without saying a word! This activity helps build a sense of trust among team members and allows then to develop creative ways to communicate with each other.  10 Points.

Obstacle Course Relay Race
Each team must make their way through a series of activities in relay fashion. Activities may include jump rope, sack race, making a basketball shot and agility drills, among others. Winning Team gets 10 points.

Tug-O-War
Set your feet and pull with all of your might in our 14-inch-deep sand volleyball court or on a turf field. The first team to pull the other across the line wins the 10 points.

Fireman’s Relay
Each team has one person that goes on the opposite end of the field. The team is given one small cup, one big cup, a blindfold, and a bucket of water. The team members (lined up) put the blindfold on and run to the opposite end of the field and dump the water into the big cup that is being held on the other person’s forehead. It is a relay race so you must run back and hand off the blindfold and cup. You will get wet!

Pass it On
Team members lay on their backs about body length apart. The first person in line starts with the ball in between his/her legs and lifts it over his/her head to the next persons’ feet in line. You continue doing this until someone gets the ball to the end, if the ball is dropped you must start over. No hands permitted.

Don’t Crack Up!
This is a relay race. Each team receives an egg and spoon and must run to the line and back without cracking/dropping the egg. If the egg is dropped that person must start over. If you finish you pass the egg to the next person in line.

Lay it Down
This is a relay race. Each team receives a stack of paper and they must lay down the paper to walk on. No touching the grass you can only walk on the paper.

Relay H20
This is a relay in the pool. Each team is given an innertube. The first person sits in the tube and starts paddling to the other end, he/she comes back and hands off the innertube. If you fall off you must start over.  10 points.
